I don't think he means to reclassify them, just tidy up the list.

Sora has a point in that what we consider a unified PC platform (Windows, Linux, Mac) only applies after a certain point. C64, DOS and Apple II ports of games were rarely, if ever, identical. And then all the other "PC" platforms like Amiga...

So it's a trade-off. PC as a category makes sense for most A.D. 2000+ games, but gets increasingly muddy prior to then.

To clarify my list was just a BS example. I'd have to research which ones make sense in the list. I don't even know what half those old PC platforms are. I hadn't even heard of NEC or even Amiga until I started this website.

You can choose to have it show which platform you prefer to. So on your profile it would just show up as "Sega Mega Drive" or "Sega Genesis". On game page it would be the combined.

As Everdred is currently active in this thread I'm going to try again.

Can we have the following platforms added:

Nec PC-8800
Nec PC-9801/21
Nec PC-FX

Also can we please change the Turbografx-16/CD platforms to PC-Engine/Turbografx for the same reason I presume it's deliberately Mega Drive/Genesis and not just "Genesis".

I think this is the best compromise for sure. Great on you for coming up with it :)

I think the point of this grouping is to group platforms that are the same. For instance, Sega Mega Drive and Sega Genesis are the same console. Perhaps Everdred could put "Nintendo" in front of all their consoles, like Sega's? I'm actually in favor of this particular change.

It's always a pleasure to contribute. The obvious ones that come to mind are Nintendo, Sega, Sony and Microsoft brands. Nintendo has a LOT by including the portable systems. I don't know which other grouping you could do tho, but I'm sure there are at least a few more.

IMO it's not a particularly elegant solution since Sony's only platforms are Playstation, Microsoft's are Xbox, and Sega's would already have Sega's name.

Also, would ALL platforms be grouped by the company behind it? Would Windows be moved from PC to Microsoft > --Windows? Sony also has Vita and PSP. Sega has Game Gear. I think it's pretty obvious that PC won't be under the Xbox brand for consoles. I'm sure you know what I mean. Regrouping "major" brands' systems together is a good idea in my opinion. I'm sure Everdred will find a way to make it nice.

PlayStation Vita and PlayStation Portable would both alphabetize around PlayStation.

Anyhow, I am in favor of grouping the consoles, just in a way that is consistent throughout and is purely for show. Grouping Windows/Linux/Mac for PC would have implications for time to beat calculations, which your idea for grouping should NOT.

I don't know if you already discussed this at some point, sorry if that is the case.

I really miss the option to directly add a game to the "playing list". It would be really nice to have a playing button in every game page. Correct me if I'm wrong but right now, you have to add the game to your backlog, go back to your backlog list and then set it as playing. A button that does all of it at the same time would be really nice.

I agree its a bit odd but personally I use the complete button, because it doesn't actually mark something as complete, it loads up a blank entry sheet for that game. Which is odd in itself.

I'd like to know more from Everdred about what goes on with sorting. Because my Completions (and Backlog) are both defaulting to alphabetical sorting right now, but sometimes Completions are sorted by most recent completed (which is my preference most of the time).

Correct. Alphabetical is always default unless coming from completion submission or selecting your own sort.

Is there a chance that you can add Plug n' Play as a console option? I bring this up because I just found my old Super Pac-Man Plug n' Play, and had a really good time with it last night.
