The Draft will begin on January 2nd 2023 - please make sure you are available to draft your picks - this usually takes about a couple of weeks, as we are all in different time zones. It's important to check in on the draft every day to see if it's your turn to pick, as well as be patient as we wait for each pick to be made. If you're an existing player then you know how it goes, but for any new players. please refer to the original post in this thread and the videos on there, as they contain a LOT of information about the whole process.

LEAGUE OPTIONS
Currently I have left all settings the same, but this is the time to discuss any changes that you would like to see!
Additionally, we have a new feature implemented: The Super Drop.
This is essentially a small catch-up mechanic for anyone falling behind at the end of the year - basically if your publisher has scored less than 65% of the leading publisher's projected points after September 1st, you get a free no-questions-asked drop. That means you can drop ANY game in your roster, whether it's been released or not.
There are more details on the FCL FAQ here.
I think this addition will be a welcome change to help out anyone lagging at the bottom of the board, especially as it currently seems kind of futile to make any moves later in the year, so it's easy to give up. This way, there's still a chance to get rid of a terrible score, or pick up a late bloomer to boost your total.
However, as always, take a look at the league options (on the left of the 2023 league page) and discuss any changes you'd like to see happen either here or on the FCL HLTB Discord Channel.

1. Every player must create a publisher before the draft begins. If you haven't created a publisher, it will be assumed that you don't wish to take part and will be removed from the league.
2. Everyone has about 24-36 hours to make their picks. Remember you can keep an eye on the HLTB Discord for a ping (we tend to @ the next person in line to help notify them that it's their turn), or at least check in on the FCL page once a day to see if it's your turn. I say that it's "about 24-36 hours" because everyone will get a minimum of 24 hours, but depending on timezones, your time may run out anywhere between 24-36 hours.
3. If your draft pick time runs out. I will pick for you from the list of "most hyped" games, so it hopefully won't be the end of the world, but you won't get to choose so it's best to avoid if you can. Plus, if you miss a bunch of picks in a row, your publisher could be removed from the league for that year.

After a year that saw first place change a number of times, this was a close-fought leaderboard and there were a number of publishers competing for that top spot right up to the end of the year where the final releases made a whole lot of difference.

That's right, we're off and running and the first pick amazingly will go to our carry-over champ clumsypenguin... with the draft order looking like this:
I did the same thing I did last year and randomised the draft order by spinning a wheel and recording the process to keep everything transparent and clear. Once that video has finished processing, I'll post it so that everyone can see that the order was made without any funny business.

The draft has completed and the new year has begun!
We already have a couple of releases in the bag, but I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for a relatively smooth draft and for everyone's patience as we got through all the timezones that make up our little community.
There are loads of great releases to look forward to already, so I'm hoping to see some fierce competition at the top =)
For now though, keep an eye out for a post-draft conversation in the next few weeks, and keep those ears to the ground for all the hot bids that show up throughout the year.

It's official, we have crowned our first two-time winner in the HLTB Fantasy Critic League - after a volatile end of year run on the leader board, our 2022 champion has struck again, and clumsypenguin's publisher Igloo Incorporated has taken the winning spot for 2023!

There's also a bit of information in there about how our league runs the draft, which may be especially relevant for new players.
For those playing along, the key points are:

It's a long time overdue (I've been busy and only just finished editing everything), but I've finally posted @FrozenRoy and my 2024 Post-Draft Review!!
