Game Picking Deathmatch

I'm sure some of you have seen this by now, but GameFAQs is having a "best game ever" voting tournament, and Twitter user Kiri made a handy little sorter for it over at:

...Except it's actually a brutal way of forcing you to decide which of your favorite games you love more. If you commit to not choosing "I feel the same way about both" then it really makes you think about what you value more. If you haven't played either game, do you pick the one you'd rather play or do you put them on the same level? When faced with a hard choice, do you pick the one you'd rather play right now--or the one that has had the most emotional impact on you?

Obviously since it just uses the pool of games included in the GameFAQs poll, some of your favorite games may be missing, and you may think some of the games included suck. But I still think it's a really fun tool, and it would be cool to see everybody's lists of their top 10-20. Here's mine:

Having "I feel the same way about both" as an option completely breaks the whole thing. I started getting lazy and clicking that a lot toward the end, and I ended up with six tied for first, four tied for seventh, and six more tied for 19th. Also, two games I've never played are in my top 20, including one tied for first. Maybe I'll do it again tomorrow and be more consistent with how I score things, because my results are a mess thanks to that.

I only voted for games that I have actually played to avoid getting games that I have never played on my top-20. At least this app got my top-2 games of all time right. Silent Hill 2, MGS 3, BG 2 should be higher on my list. Skyrim and Fallout 3 should be replaced with New Vegas and Shadow of the Colossus.

The FAQ didn't have some games I would have voted, like Thief, Hitman and Ultima-series.

Mine is pretty accurate as well, not sure that is the exact order I would rank things but the majority would be in my top 20 somewhere I also have either completed or play the majority of all the games in this list, or am actively playing them. my top game 2 games are 2 of the very few games I have completed multiple times.

Ok, this time I deliberately forced games I haven't played to the bottom by always picking the game I've played if there's one I have played and one I haven't and only using "I feel the same way about both" if I haven't played either one. My results make a lot more sense without six-way ties everywhere and games I've never played in first place. Interestingly, it took over 150 more comparisons to generate this list compared to the previous one. Also, it looks like I should maybe re-prioritize going back and playing the Wii games I missed and think about getting a Wii U and/or some form DS at some point considering half my list is first-party Nintendo games, and I can't really argue with the inclusion of any of them.

Yeah there were quite a few games I hadn't played so it devalued a lot of the choices. Also I think I got a bit hasty towards the end so maybe a few things fall out of the order that I might place them in.

Twilight Princess would have been higher, but I accidentally clicked it down against one of the other games up there. I can pretty much agree with most of the list there as being some of my favourite games.

Even the top 30 is pretty accurate, 31 onwards is where it starts getting to mostly games I haven't played.

As a proud WiiU owner, I would say that if you're a fan of first party Nintendo you will not be disappointed.

I don't have a couple hundred bucks to throw at one right now, and I've been spoiled by how ridiculously cheap PC games are compared to console games (especially Nintendo's, which never get particularly cheap even when they're old), but I have been motivated to at least try to get to the handful of Wii ones I missed.
