I'm expecting the price of the cart to come crashing down over the next month.

Or the game will find even more fans, and some of them now want the original cartridge of their new favorite game.

Hopefully the amount of success it's seeing will spark Nintendo to FINALLY make Mother 3 available in the west.

Anyone know if there are any plans to bring this game to the 3DS?

That'd be a really good idea on their part, but I don't think there are at the moment. Maybe when Nintendo decides to finally combine the two eShops something like that will happen, but who knows when that'll happen.

I highly doubt that will ever happen the 3DS Eshop is based off of handheld games and the Wii U Eshop is based off of console games.

I would be sort of surprised if that did happen, but there's no real good reason it couldn't. They've already made handheld games available on home consoles as far back as the Super Game Boy, and the 3DS has more than enough power to emulate at least some console games. The main problem is that the screen is embarrassingly low resolution, to the degree that it can't even support all the video resolutions/modes the SNES is capable of without scaling stuff down, much less something like the N64. Games that only use the lower resolutions would work ok though (which is probably the majority of them), not that I expect Nintendo to do anything with that.
