I didn't vote for this game as I have already completed it. And i have to say it is well worth a play through. The game is based around basically a set of boss battles with colossal enemies. Each with a set of weak point which you need to climb up to. It is a well built and unique game and was a joy to play through.
Personally my favorite fights where the underwater colossus and the flying sea colossus

I found it quite boring and I doubt the remake changes anything fundamentally. Think I've done 3 colossi before I gave up, traversing a world with literally nothing in it between each fight with not exactly the best horse-controls is anything but fun.

The game is only about 6h and is available at my local media library, I might try to borrow it before the end of the month.

I own the PS3 HD Collection with that game. I completed Ico in November 2017 and I've been curious about SotC for quite a while. Looks like this game will be my 100th completion ! :)

That is how I will be playing it too - yet to try Ico, but I'll get to it eventually I'm sure!

Well I played this back in May already this year, so I don't think I'll be replaying it again this month. I did really enjoy the game though. Going in I knew the game was mostly just the fights with the colossi, so I was a bit surprised to see it had an open world in it. Also even though the world is mostly empty, I think it works in developing the atmosphere and making you feel pretty much alone. I could also see its influence on future games and some of their boss fights, particularly the Zelda games, like Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and Breath of the Wild.
My favorite colossus fight was probably the 13th. It was one of the most unique colossus and fun to fight. It also was the one I felt most bad about taking down, as it pretty much minded its own business according to my memory and wasn't actively trying to attack you like some of the others did.
My least favorite colossus fight was probably either the 7th or the last one. The 7th I couldn't really figure out its pattern, and since it was underwater I couldn't figure out how to grab onto him at the right moments. The last one I actually liked for a time due to the size and scope of it, until I got close to the top. I got stuck at one part and that led to me being knocked off all the way to the bottom numerous times and I would have to climb all the way back up again, which would take a few minutes

I don't own the game and after paying my pre-orders for Persona Endless Night Collection and SSBU I don't have much money left, BUT I have a friend that said he could lend me his copy, so I may be able to play it this month!!! Keep your fingers crossed so he doesn't leave it at home this week!

I got the ICO/SotC collection on PS3 a few years ago, but I found them a bit boring and never got far in either. Might as well give SotC another go.
Edit: Darn... looks like I don't have the disc with me (teenage me thought it was a great idea to put everything in folios and I only have one of two at my house).

I'm playing the PS3 version of the game. I'm ~90 minutes in the game and already beaten the first three Colossi. It's interesting so far. The controls on the horse are wierd. Also, sometimes I feel like the camera isn't too good at following during the fights with the Colossi, the controls are somewhat imprecise when hanging on a Collosus as well. But these are minor complaints. I'm pleased with the game so far, the fights are very engaging.
Edit 1: 2h15m / 5 Colossi
Edit 2: 3h10m / 6 Colossi
Edit 3: 4h25m / 9 Colossi - Also, I'm getting used to the controls and it's actually not that bad. So far, I think the game is rather easy for me and I haven't had the need to check any guide or walkthrough so far. I have no trouble finding the Colossi and I found their weak points and how to defeat them easily. I see why so many people like that game. It's clever and well done. Surprising how good it is considering it was made for the PS2. The fight with Hydrus the electric eel (the 7th Colossi) took me less than five minutes once I reached the area. There's at least two other Colossi that took less than 10 minutes to beat.

This game is one of the main reasons I wish I had gone with Playstation over Xbox. It's been over a decade and no developer has even attempted to do what this game did. That being said, it's at least a decade ahead of its time, and considering I don't think anything like it will be released anytime soon, it may as well be two decades ahead of its time.

Edit 4: 6h30m / 12 Colossi
So far, so good ! The Colossi are becoming slightly more challenging. The 12th one was the longest for me so far. It took me at least 30-40 minutes just to figure out what to do.

am a bit over an hour in on the PS4 remaster with 3 colossi defeated - really enjoying it so far, which I was kind of surprised about, not because it's a bad game, but because I've seen so much media about this game and there's so much hype that I tempered my expectations a little too much. I figured I'd play it just to play an absolute classic, but it's actually a lot of fun despite there being no real surprises as I've basically seen the whole game already.
I suppose a large part of it is playing the remaster - as the old controls sound like they'd be annoying. the horse controls do take some getting used to, but I'm actually liking the fact that your horse almost has a mind of its own and needs to be considered as a separate entity to your own character.
looking forward to finishing this one!

I thought that the battles with the 13th and 14th Colossi were both pretty cool. I have gotten to the 15th one but I had to stop because I have to pick up my son. I played for 5-10 minutes but can't quite figure out what to do. That voice gives me a clue but even then, there's something I do not understand. I'll try later tonight or tomorrow.

Final Edit: I completed the game this morning in ~9h30m. While I think it's a marvelous, unique and inspired game, I would say that I feel it is a bit overated. I'd still give the game a solid 85/100 based on my personal opinion. Graphics are good, the fights are challenging just enough and there is a great feeling of engagement, of things in the gaming that are done in a way that we almost feel like it really means something. Hard to explain, but I often felt that way.
I prefered that game towards the second half. The fights required more thinking and sometimes used the environment as an important part of the solution to beat the Colossi. My favorite fights were against Colossi #3-5-8-9-12-13-14-16. Also, without revealing anything, I don't know how I feel about the ending of the game, of what happens during the rolling credits. I've read stuff online but I'm not personally sure what to think of that.
I'm happy I played that game. It was well worth it. I haven't seen anything quite like it. I'd recommand the game to anyonw with a PS2, PS3 or PS4 as the game is available on all three systems. I don't know if they changed anything to the PS4 remake of the game, but the PS3 version that I played looks pretty much identical to the original PS2 release, with better graphics obviously.

Just completed the game, clocking in at 9h 9m / all colossi / all shrines / some exploration
Overall I really enjoyed the game more than I was expecting to. Even though there are some issues that probably have more to do with its age than anything else, but thankfully most of my time in-game was smooth and a lot of fun. The remake is beautiful and looks jaw-dropping in places - really makes travelling large distances enjoyable, as the varied environments look wonderful. The actual colossus designs impressed me as well, and some of them were very unique and creative.
My favourites were: 1, 5, 6, 10, 12, and 13
My least favourite were: 4 and 16
Without spoiling anything, the final fight was the most frustrating for me, as it exposed how bad the camera can be. I was constantly losing track of where I was and what direction I was trying to move in. Plus, I came unstuck a couple of times for no reason... frustrating.
4 was annoying because it took 30 minutes to get him in the correct position to be able to attack. The AI just didn't want to give me an opening. Became a long dance around a dumb AI, waiting for it to go where it needed to go.
All up though, very enjoyable and would definitely recommend to anyone who's interested in seeing what all the fuss is about. It's not too long and the remake is a fine way to get over the dated graphics and controls. It's easy to see why it was so popular in its day!

honestly, I didn't like the ending much, but I also didn't mind... it just seemed like trying too hard without any real explanation and even though I'm all for a bit of ambiguity, I didn't really "get" what they were going for with that final result.

9 Yrs♥$✓#
Have you played Ico ? Because it looks as though the developer wanted to make a connexion with the game even though they said many times that there is no connexion between the two. But to me there obviously is, so it's confusing. SotC looks like a prequel to Ico, but the storyline between the two being unknown, it's hard to understand how could one game lead to the other.

12 Yrs♥F$✓#
I haven't played Ico, but I'm familiar with the 'story' and it still seemed a bit like they missed the mark... I'm just thankful that the meat of SotC doesn't really rely on the peripheral story - the main one with the fragments etc is clear enough =)

9 Yrs♥$✓#
I think that they assumed that most of their fans had already played Ico when SotC was released. While playing SotC, you don't really seen any connexion between the two games, but once you get to the end of SotC, it's hard not to see so many common things with its predecessor. When I saw the ending to SotC yesterday, I went "NO WAY!?" and was puzzled for a while. It was unexpected. But like I said, the developer keeps saying there are no link between the games. I wouldn't be surprise if 10 years from now, they release a new game that fills the gap between the games. I haven't played The Last Guardian so I don't know if that game has common things with Ico or SotC.

12 Yrs♥F$✓#
going to be playing Last Guardian soon, but have no idea if it has anything to do with the other games... will be interesting to find out =)

I beat the game today. In-game clock says 6h 31m 27s but I reckon my actual playtime is closer to 10h.
Honestly this game was a huge disappointment for me on a number of levels. Below are an assortment of thoughts in no particular order.
-Starting with the main positive: this game has hands-down the best audio design I have ever seen in a game. Ambient and dietetic sounds, OST, small dialogue cues, everything about the soundscape is perfection.
-The graphics, on the other hand, are underwhelming. I played the PS3 HD port, and my definition of 'HD' is clearly very different to the one they use at Bluepoint Games.
-The gameplay has not aged well. Clunky physics and just enough jank serve to undermine the experience.
-A special mention here for just how poorly Agro controls 90% of the time.
-There is a great story concept here, but the way it is acted out is just nonsensical. I'm all for leaving questions and details unexplained, but you can't apply that logic to everything about the world and story!
-The colossi encounters are hit and miss.I had great fun with a few, a few more frustrated and annoyed me, the rest were so-so.
I gave it a 5/10, which for me is a touch below average.

Besides fact that framerate is close to slideshow which "is not important at all" Shadow of the Colossus is really loved by me. Game is f**king great and I'm sorry for language, but otherwise I can't express how much I like it. Taking that controller and booting up game then enabling progressive scan and widescreen and then starting and ohh... intrigue and hype is already here. Few simple tutorials and horse and practically zero explanation, ENJOY! Even though game was already at least 10 years old when I first played it I was still impressed seeing these big colossus guys. It's just super fun finding ways to get into their fur while amazing ost is playing in background. Every colossy is like this big damn puzzle with weird camera angles and I love some puzzles. Yep, game's world can seem a bit empty, but it's not when You get to another fight. Basically it's all about these boss fights which I really liked even with slower pacing and some breath time in between which just got me more hyped to see next colossus. It's not one of those games which I could play nonstop because I can easily agree that fights need patience so putting down controller after few bosses is logical thing to do, but every single time I played it I got this amazing rush and as with most games I rate them as overall experience so some issues with controls and stuff aren't big deal when everything else is so great about it.

I love this game so much. It's wonderful and the design is wonderful too. Great piece about obsession if you ask me. It is clunky but not enough to lessen any opinion I hold of it. It's in my top 10 games of all time. It would be a contender for my top 3 easily too.
